[00:00:57] I have. Hello everybody. How are you all going? I hope everyone's well. Listening to some music, having a bit of a dance, having fun. So where did you get off to this weekend? Oh, I took off. I went way, way, way out west. I went down through Roma out to Injun and around that area. Where is that? A long way from here. If anyone knows where Roma is. Okay. So why did you go away?
[00:01:23] I had the offer to take off for a couple of days and I took it because I go out way out west in Roma under a few people's properties we go and stay on. The guy's name's Franck, that we stay in this hundred old cabin or over a hundred year old cabin. And we go fishing in the rivers and we go collect timber, which is what we went for. And we picked up some hairy oak, they call it.
[00:01:48] And it's a beautiful, beautiful wood that you can make bowls, turn bowls out of it. You can make all sorts of things. So he, a friend of mine, Tex, he wanted me to go out there with him and cut up some timber and bring it back. So that was our main objective. He gets a bit of meat. Out there they shoot the pigs, wild oars that break everything. So he picks up a few of them and they take some meat home as well. So we did all that sort of thing. What did you do when you weren't doing that sort of thing?
[00:02:18] Oh, well, when we weren't doing that, we just chill out around a campfire and we do a bit of a sightsee around. They took me to a valley. Oh, I nearly remember the name of it now. Lockheed. No, it wasn't Lockheed. Oh, this beautiful valley. It's actually reminded me when we come down the range into this place. And it reminded me of, I suppose, America, the old Indian movies and, or the Grand Canyon sort of mountains. And, oh, it was beautiful. I just can't remember the name of it right now.
[00:02:48] No, it's left me, but a magic place. It's just, it looked like a crater. We'd come out of space, landed and just took out all this area and just left all these big mountains and a big canyon. It was beautiful. So did you remember to take photos for me? I have taken a couple of photos. Oh, cool. Make sure you send them so I can get a look at it. You can have a look at that, yes. And you can, yeah. And the cabin, I'll send a picture of the cabin that we stayed in. Cool.
[00:03:17] But just beautiful country. They're all cattle properties. Just thousands and thousands of miles, just people's land. It's just beautiful. And I love going out there because it's just, there's nothing there. There's no distractions. The phone doesn't work. You just disappear and chill out and you cook over open fires. And it's just so peaceful. It's amazing. Nothing but wildlife around you. And you're sort of at peace with yourself.
[00:03:45] You have this just little time alone, if you know what I mean. That's another McCormack trait because although we are children of the sea and the water, we love to get out where there's nothing and just go to peace. Yep. Sit and enjoy the environment and the surroundings by the river or in the bush.
[00:04:08] It's just something that, you know, you, myself, Mark, our brother, just love to do. Yeah. Yeah. And out there, you're traveling through the bush. You wouldn't even know there was a river there. You come across the creeks and the rivers and they've all got fishing holes where there's a deep hole somewhere. So you pick one of those, you walk down, have a fishing line with a light sinker and a hook. You put a garden worm on and you splash.
[00:04:37] You splash the end of the rod in the water and it attracts the yellow belly and what they call dewfish, which are like a catfish. And they're in sandy creeks and they are really good eating. They're beautiful. So we caught a few yellow bellies and a few dewfish. Yeah. Have a great time and then cook them up on the barbie and have a couple of beers and watch the moon. The moon was huge. It was a massive moon last night.
[00:05:01] I mean, it come up so orange over the mountains and yeah, we watched that rise. I was sitting there cooking dinner over the fireplace because out there, the stars, the moon are just so bright because it's so dark out there. You see life itself. Yeah, I love to be out in that sort of an area. Same with that Bathurst way at Fremantle. It's so clear.
[00:05:25] The skies are amazingly clear and just being out there around the fire and talking to friends and having a drink. Yep. Yep. Well, there's only two of us out there. It was just my mate Tex and myself. And they call him Tex because he's from Texas and he's got the big, big mustache and yeah, a big cowboy hat and away we go. So you got yourself a trailer of wood for your fire? No, no. The wood we went out to get is to turn.
[00:05:54] Oh, okay. To turn into bowls or anything, make all sorts of things. Okay, so I thought you might have been going out for the firewood but you've gone out for craft. Craft, yes, yes. And so what, you said Tex, I think you told us last week, Tex does furniture? Oh, we've made beds, we've made cupboards, cabinets, all sorts of things, everything, anything.
[00:06:17] Right down to the tiniest trinkets of turned timber and like almost toothpick style. He can do all sorts of things. He's very clever on a lathe. I love staying at your place because all the beds are made out of those, that timber. It's absolutely amazing, those beds. Yep, that's rosewood, yeah, rosewood posts and like forks of trees, massive. Yeah, they're absolutely wonderful. Yeah, and they're so comfy. Yep, yep.
[00:06:48] Nice and strong. My next challenge is probably make some fan blades for the fans, for the ceilings. For your ceilings? Yeah. Oh, okay. It'll match in and look good with everything. Oh, that sounds interesting. I'd like to see that when it's finished. Bit of a challenge. Yeah, I reckon. Yeah. Something very different. Well, you can buy them out of the shop, but you can also make them. Oh, I haven't seen, I've seen the rattan one.
[00:07:15] My big fan in the living room is a rattan. It's got rattan blades. Yeah. And I love that. Yeah. Except for the fact that they get dusty very quickly on top. A lot. A lot of them. But other than that, they look really good and they work really well. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. So we spent a lot of time out there. I think I went on Thursday, came back just tonight. I've just come home. So I had a feed and a friend of mine cooked me dinner so I didn't have to cook dinner, which is fantastic.
[00:07:43] Good old spaghetti bolognese. It was beautiful. Oh, I love that. Yeah. It's easy, it's quick and it's very nourishing. It is. But I did take my music and guitar with me and everything, but I think I pulled it out once and had a bit of a tinker and put it back, but it's covered in bulldust, not the guitar, the guitar case, and all my gear because we chuck all the gear on the back of the ute and we get down a lot of dirt roads. So by the time I got home, it's going to need a bath.
[00:08:11] So you've got a lot of cleaning up to do after your trip. Tomorrow, after, yeah, my day's work, I'll get home and I'll clean everything up. And so what were the roads like out in the country these days? Oh, no, they're a lot better route that way. They've tarred a lot of stuff, but there's still a lot of dirt roads because we're on property, so once you get onto the properties, it's generally all dirt. All right. Well, you've had a long drive. Well, I'm not going to keep you for a long time, but I think we should this week play
[00:08:39] something for our listeners. What do you think? Well, I think life ain't a practice run is a good one. So you go out and do what I did. Go and live a little and let your head out and find your place, find your quiet place. So that's how I wrote life ain't a practice run. It's just, yeah, do it today while you're thinking about it. Don't wait till tomorrow. Because tomorrow may never come. Well, hopefully it does. All right. All right.
